Hybrid House
Graduate Design Studio III
Fall 2004 For this project, we were asked to design low-income housing using only prefabricated metal building parts. The program also included a live/work component, but the two types of spaces had to be interchangeable and intertwined with one another. Our site was in an industrial complex, so the use of the metal building components was not unordinary. After investigating the surrounding area, I began to bend the rules by adding shipping containers to the mix. As time went on, the containers became the dwelling space, with the prefabricated metal building parts becoming the outer shading skin of the structure. |
